The two academics from HKBU and EdUHK will share how their AI pedagogies enrich teaching methodologies and enhance student learning experiences.

Whilst Assistant Professor Dr Peter NELSON from HKBU will illuminate the evolving relationship between human interpretations and AI-driven processes in artistic workflows, Senior Lecturer Dr Fridolin TING from EdUHK will explore the challenges and opportunities of integrating GenAI in classroom settings and highlight innovative pedagogical approaches through AI platforms.

Human Interpretation, Algorithmic Interpolation, and AI Inference in Art Education

This talk explores the conceptual divisions between human interpretation, algorithmic interpolation, and AI inference as structures of knowledge and strategies in a creative process. As AI rapidly infuses into artistic workflows, it is critical that artists understand the nature of the tools they use and the various decision-making processes available. This talk articulates a distinction between three modes of thinking and gives examples of how they arise in fine art education.

Exploring Multidisciplinary Applications of Collaborative GenAI Pedagogies in Education

This presentation will examine the primary challenges faced in integrating GenAI into classroom settings and propose a comprehensive pedagogical and technological approach. By leveraging personalised and active learning pedagogies implemented through a multimodal LLM-integrated online chatroom equipped with unique features—such as context-aware rooms and drawing functionality, we demonstrate robust methods applicable across various subjects, ranging from STEM fields (Mathematics, Physiology) to humanities (English, Psychology), teacher training, AI literacy, and innovation/entrepreneurship education (e.g., prototype design). We will share insights from our personalised and active teaching pilots conducted using our GenAI platform, highlighting tangible evidence of improved student learning outcomes.
